# What is your value curve?

## Purpose
What is the shape of your value offering?

## Article
A value curve is a way to analyse your position in the market, compare your competitive stance and look for innovation opportunities.

Draw a chart that has user needs on one axis, and the user perception of how well they are filled on the other axis. Do this for yourself and your competitors. It is important to chart the users perception of fulfilment, not what you think is fulfilled.

The closer the charts are between you and your competitors the more of a commodity your product/service is.

For innovation opportunities you can ask yourself:

- Are any of these needs overserved?
- Are any of these needs underserved?
- Can we purposefully ignore one need to overserve on others?
- Which of these needs are the most valuable to the customer?
- Are there needs that have not been fulfilled at all?
