Big Bang Disruption

This article argues that a new type of disruption is affecting business, different from the original description. These new disruptors come out of left field, and rapidly take hold, not the slow adoption from downstream of the original disruption type. The three factors leading to their success are:
- Unencumbered development
- Unconstrained growth
- Undisciplined strategy
[Big bang disruptors] come out of nowhere and [are] instantly everywhere
The article further argues that the technology adoption lifecycle has been compressed into just two phases: test users and everyone else.
In the future the most successful innovators may be those who simply happen upon the right combination of other peoples’ technologies
This article mentions competitors coming from left field - but makes no mention of Jobs To Be Done theory which gives insights into this.
